I have been writing since I first learned how. Sometimes I struggle, trying to do it myself, and sometimes I wait on God and he gives me the words I need. God has graciously allowed me opportunities to write for television, radio, newspapers and magazines. He even surprised me once with an Emmy Award. I get to freelance for an outdoor adventure show and every now and then I get called on to produce for a major network news organization. As a child, I dreamed of someday becoming a television news reporter. And, God allowed that dream to come true. But, it seems resumes and bios make it all look more impressive than it ever really felt when I was just living my life.
In reality, I’m a mother trying desperately to get it right. A wife hoping her husband doesn’t get lost in the shuffle. I’m a daughter with aging parents, a sister, an aunt, a cousin and friends with a bunch of crazy women who keep me constantly challenged and on my game.
Most importantly, I am a believer and a follower of the Good Shepherd. He has kept this lost lamb from many, many, many disastrous and possibly permanent pitfalls. He is allowing me to use a talent that he alone has given me. And I pray with every word I write that it is in some small way a blessing to others and that I am able to serve out God’s purpose for me in this generation.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. ”
